From Penobscot to Pittston, it’s too dangerous for 2102 to make the 2.2% grade decent for the engine solo. So for safety, RBMN brought 5018 & 5019 to assist the 18 miles downhill to prevent risk of burning brake shoes and with a 20 mph restriction.
