CSX I163 heads Westbound with CSX YN2 AC44CW 159 leading.

G702 with a YN2 AC44 leading comes up on South Deshler to head up north to Lake State in Wixom.

Two of CSX’s new-ish heritage units, the Baltimore & Ohio (#1827) and Western Maryland (#1852), lead the hotshot UPS Intermodal I031 past the Potomac Shores neighborhood in Dumfries, VA.

CSX I008-09 runs over the Great Miami River in Sidney at CP 163 on the Indy Line with the Western Maryland and Baltimore & Ohio units leading on a dreary Sunday morning.

For whatever reason, after leading L211-08 into Hinton a couple days prior, 1776 was put in charge of a combined L211-08/L211-10 to complete the two trains' journeys to Clifton Forge. The large local is seen here preparing to work the Covington, VA yard.

CSX's 8th heritage unit, dedicated to the New York Central, leads E900 into the yard in Peach Creek, WV. The unit hasn't been in service long at this point, as after its release from Waycross, it soon returned to the shops for another month. After riding the system paired with the Monon heritage, it had finally broken away and was running DKPX empties for Brice, NC.

This train, though it was agonizingly slow, made for an awesome catch from the Franconia Road overpass as the W053 crew used their special weed spray to keep the encroaching plants under control.

Newly rebuilt engine 1714, part of the new SD23T4 series for CSX, leads southbound weed sprayer train W053. These engines were meant to be used for locals and yard jobs as a modern answer to those needs, however so far they're almost always seen on non-revenue trains.

Though it was running as a Mid-DPU on M410, my picture of the Chicago & Eastern Illinois heritage unit turned out much better than I could've hoped for given the train's speed and the dense cloud coverage.

As the engineer of Amtrak 79 put it as they passed this train, “Western Maryland lives on, y’all look good.” The lighting and scenery were about as good as it gets for a drone shot of the Western Maryland heritage unit as it led M301 along the Potomac River.

CSX's Geometry Train, W003, makes a trip from Richmond, VA to Baltimore, MD on the RF&P Subdivision with a relatively new locomotive in the lead. SD23T4 #1713, rebuilt from SD40-2 #8055, had been operating this train for a few months after it replaced GP40-2 #6025, which had been running the train for years prior.

The Seaboard Coast Line heritage unit leads I010-06 through Auburn Junction after waiting on I115 to cross over, with L376 in the background dropping off cars on the storage track.

As wind creates ripples across the top of the water of Powell’s Creek, CSX Intermodal I135 crosses the Powell’s Creek Trestle with the Père Marquette Heritage Unit in the lead.

In what I call a fantastic outcome of shots, CSX 1850 leads M652 across the old Clinchfield N&W overpass in Saint Paul, Virginia. I have seen dozens of images staged here with various units of all types, yet this was the first time we had caught anything in Saint Paul in general. The closest we had came was amidst our chasing of the Santa Train, where we passed through. Until the Clinchfield Heritage Unit is done, and runs this way, this will have to do for now. Hey, wouldn't this be Family Lines?

CSX 1827 made a surprise visit to Lynch 3 on R614. If it hadn't been for my good friend Jeremy Williams, I would have never known it had came and gone. The Baltimore & Ohio scheme shines in the mid-day sun as Dragon pilots the unit and they begin loading. 1827 is the first Heritage Unit to make its appearance at Lynch 3 and is also the first Heritage Unit to grace CSX's roster. Good times.
