Finding themselves far away from home, CP 9717 and CP 8034 await a favorable signal just south of NS Inman Yard in Atlanta with NS 191 in tow. These CP units came off an M77 to Columbia, SC and were en route to Birmingham, AL.

L133 runs south through Franconia, VA as it completes its once-weekly trip to Northern Virginia on the RF&P Subdivision. There are typically very few cars for industries this far north but the little local never fails to make the weekly Wednesday appearance up here!

This unmissable building, painted somewhat recently to say "Welcome to Fredericksburg" on all 4 sides, was the perfect subject of the picture with Amtrak Floridian #41 serving as the secondary subject.

CSX’s newest (and last) heritage unit, the Pan Am Railways #1981 unit, sits idly as M410 awaits a signal indication at Dahlgren Junction.

A duo of CW44AC's in CSX's YN2 paint scheme lead empty coal train E315 through Dumfries, VA. While a YN2 duo is not yet "impossible" to see, it is quickly becoming harder to catch as more are getting rebuilt/repainted.

Amtrak has suspended both the Silver Star and Capital Limited and combined them into the new Floridian. Seen here is 41, the southbound, stopped at Alexandria Union Station, the first Floridian to do so.

Two of CSX’s new-ish heritage units, the Baltimore & Ohio (#1827) and Western Maryland (#1852), lead the hotshot UPS Intermodal I031 past the Potomac Shores neighborhood in Dumfries, VA.

Over the summer, Amtrak began testing the ALC-42 Chargers on the Auto Train, as seen in the picture. This was the last official run of the test train with the Pacific Bend sleeper car trailing behind the engines.

Before this train even passed, we noticed how incredibly blue and beautiful the water looked on this amazing Saturday afternoon so, understandably, I made the river a feature of the picture.

This M410, which was tasked with taking some foreign power to Selkirk, had 4 different paint schemes on the head end with the leader being YN3 #749, following by YN2 #16, CP #8849, and KCS #5016. Quite the colorful lashup!

The full body paint “Spirit of our First Responders” unit paired with the New York Central heritage unit, one of CSX’s new heritage locomotives…this is what CSX railfans dream of!

As the day of rare CSX trains continued to deliver, M415 rounded the curve along the Potomac River with an all EMD lashup, including a rare SD23T4 trailing 3rd.

This lone tree has been a part of so many pictures from this railfanning location in Lorton, VA as it was for my picture of this southbound VRE.

On its way to the Hialeah Terminal in Miami, FL, recently rebuilt Amtrak GP38-3 #747 trails 3rd on M409 and attracts plenty of railfans as it travels down the RF&P Subdivision.

SD70AC #4733 is put to work as it leads M421 up a decent incline in Franconia, VA.

This train, though it was agonizingly slow, made for an awesome catch from the Franconia Road overpass as the W053 crew used their special weed spray to keep the encroaching plants under control.

I wouldn’t swim in Powell’s Creek, but the body of water does make for some interesting pictures from Leesylvania State Park. M410 reflects off the dirty top of the water with the Family Lines heritage unit trailing second.

Newly rebuilt engine 1714, part of the new SD23T4 series for CSX, leads southbound weed sprayer train W053. These engines were meant to be used for locals and yard jobs as a modern answer to those needs, however so far they're almost always seen on non-revenue trains.

With one CSX after another coming over the Powell’s Creek Trestle in Woodbridge, VA, I figured I’d switch the shot up a bit and use some trees in Leesylvania State Park for my frame.
