Loaded Unit Coal C748 curves towards the Old Main Line Subdivision which will take the train the rest of the way to Baltimore, MD.

CSX SD70AC #4545 leads Baltimore-bound C748 past Point of Rocks, MD with a perfect Narrow Font K5LA.

Long Hood Forward CSX ET44AH #3423 leads a 4-car L128 east onto Track 1 through Point of Rocks, MD

A comically small L128 rounds the corner in Point of Rocks with CSX’s most powerful locomotive model pulling just one empty rock hopper back to Brunswick Yard.

Local Shuttle L198 emerges from the 122-year old tunnel (originally built in the 1860’s but rebuilt in 1902) in Point of Rocks, MD as it rolls east towards Baltimore.

CSX Manifest M421 with two ES40DC’s in the lead rolls by the old and iconic B&O station building in Point of Rocks, MD.

Following M277, Intermodal I135 runs west along the Potomac River through Point of Rocks, MD. The old B&O station building still stands guard over the major interlocking between the Metropolitan and Old Main Line Subdivisions.

A somewhat newly rebuilt SD70AC leading train M421 departs Brunswick after tying down to await a new crew.

This coal train, which clocked in with 5 engines and 200 loaded coal hoppers, rumbled east on track 2 through the riverside town of Brunswick, MD.

2 BNSF ET44C4's, 3936 and 3904, lead CSX's Brunswick, MD Yard Job Y101 through the Maple Avenue road crossing. Just up the street from this train is the "BRUNSWICK" sign, which I simply had to include in the picture.

As a thick layer of fog lingers over the Potomac River, the day is just getting started for CSX’s Brunswick Yard. The 3 BNSF engines off a grain train stick out against the landscape and will be used as the yard switchers for the day.

This rebuilt MARC GP39PH-3C has frequented the Brunswick area in the last few months, and I was lucky enough to catch it leading this evening service with a nice P5 horn!

M422 rolls through the busy town of Gaithersburg, MD with 5 head end locomotives, with the leading 3 being EMD SD70AC’s. The parking garage adjacent to the tracks provided a great vantage point on this sunny Sunday evening.

6 inches of snow was the last thing anyone in the DMV area was expecting from this storm considering the totals we’ve been getting over the last few years, but these Friday flurries turned into a half foot of the most powdery snow you could ask for…perfect for pictures with trains!
