Amtrak 5, the westbound California Zephyr, rolls through Downers Grove, IL. The train was 30 minutes late after traffic along the BNSF Racetrack held them up, despite an on time departure from Chicago's Union Station.

Merry Christmas everyone! Recently, I was scrolling through the archives and I found this interesting catch of Amtraks Illinois Zephyr with quite the interesting lashup. In the lead is an Old BNSF C44-9W instead of the modern SC-44 they normally put on these trains.

Due to the wildfires that we're raging in Canada at the time, Almost the entire US was covered in a hazy fog. I decided to venture out on June 27th, unaware of the haziness that was over the state of Illinois. Metra 211 is seen trailing on an Inbound from Aurora, only beginning the trek towards Chicago.

AMTK #184 is seen leading AMTK #5, The California Zephyr on a warm July afternoon. I'm glad I've gotten the chance to see 184 in person as it would get repainted in early March of 2023, although we have 164 so...oh well.
