Nickel Plate Road 765 makes a dead head move towards Akron OH for another round of trips for the Steam in the Valley event

NKP 765 is moving up to her station stop for the annual Steam in the Valley event at the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad

With an on time departure of 3:00pm from Angola, Indiana, NKP 765 begins its journey back to Hillsdale with a fall colors excursion in tow. After crossing County Road 400 N in Fremont, the train enters a spectacular tree tunnel of green and yellow foliage.

Nickel Plate Road 765 rolls through southern Michigan, on the final leg of her return run on the Fall Colors Train, as the leaves are just beginning to change color.

Passing by at the time, the new crossing in Fremont, it was closed at the time. This was a nice chase. And with no high sun.

After turning on the Wye Track at CP Wood, the 765 and train are starting back to Conway with another employee excursion. Those were the good days...

A favorite song of our three daughters is called "Follow That Train", by Country singer Jessica Harp. For our middle daughter, Naomi, this was the result of doing just that, as she greets her favorite steam locomotive, restored Nickel Plate Road (NKP) 2-8-4 "Berkshire" No. 765, as it thunders south at Everett Road on the final day of the "Steam in the Valley" event on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad back in 2021. After first seeing the engine at an Open House event in 2015, when she was just over a year old, she has since become fascinated with the 765, even stating more than once that she wants to become an engineer and run 765! This event was the first time she ever got to see the engine run in-person in a mainline-like setting, and she was thrilled! So, who knows, maybe someday she'll be in the right hand seat, running 765 at an event like this.
