UP 4048 East leads the Los-Angeles to Dallas Texas double stack that is about to pass under Interstate 10 know as Empirita. This former mainline track is now a long storage track used for cars and even locomotives east of Tucson.

SP 8035 West leads a long Chicago-Los Angeles double stack up the grade toward the Mescal summit in September 1988.

SP 8330 East is about to pass next to the Mescal coaling tower with the LBHOT-06 (Long Beach-Houston Trailers). Todays consist includes another SP SD40 and four Rio Grande GP40's.

SSW (Cotton Belt) 8041 is part of a 3 unit helper set that pushed a stalled eastbound ahead of it to the summit of Mescal. The units are returning back to their train the WCHOQ-04 passing the semaphore at Irene, AZ.

SP 9360 West leads the HOTUM-06 cresting the summit at Mescal, AZ in March 1991. The consist includes SP 9360, 8038, 7533 and 6786.

SP 9333 West powers the BSMFF as it meets SSW (Cotton Belt) 8091 East with the LBEST at Mescal in the late afternoon of March 1998.

SP 8266 West leads seven units on the hot BSMFF "Blue Streak" at Chamiso, AZ under crystal clear December skies in 1987. The train is just east of the summit at Mescal and will soon be in Tucson for a crew change.

SP snoot 8350 is the lead helper along with SSW (Cotton Belt) 7777, NHL (BN) 6466 and SP 7278 on the HOWCM as it passes the iconic coaling tower at Mescal in November 1987.
