Raily Blues
Raily Blues
After a long chase of M442 up to Baldwin, FL in the morning, I decided to set up camp at the northern end of CSX's Moncrief Yard in Jacksonville, FL. Arriving there, I found 2 trains, NS 287 arriving into NS's Simpson yard in the distance and CSX L795 building his train for his return trip north. After seeing Amtrak train #98 was close enough, I drove to the other side of the tracks and within minutes up came Amtrak P098 slowly racing L795 towards its Jacksonville, FL station stop. Leading was a P42 which was a nice treat to end the day.

NS 26C sits tied down just north of Simpson yard on 2/4/23. The other headlight belongs to a UP C44ACM that likely went north on a different outbound train later that night. Note the two pieces of rolling stock that have left the rails.

Another photo from the Jacksonville chronicles. At the North end of Norfolk Southerns Simpson Yard sits one of Norfolk Southerns heritage units, this one happening to be NS 8114 the "Original Norfolk Southern". NS 8114 had came into Simpson Yard about a day or 2 ago when this photo was taken and it just so happened to still be there when I went up so thats pretty neat.

On a roll
On a roll
On a gloomy, May Day. A couple of friends and I ventured out for the Jacksonville area. After stopping by Simpson, Baldwin, and many other places, one of my friends had found the Jax Port switcher switching out cars for customers. As soon as he found it, we rushed over to grab a couple of photos, this being my favorite.
