With much of Virginia still heavily impacted from the New Years snow storm, it wasn't just VDOT and Dominion Energy that were recovering. CSX Transportation was hit hard as well, with trees downed all over the state, and dealing with power outages to the railroad. Seen here less than a week after the storm, an early morning overhead view of Acca Yard in Richmond shows quite the backlog of traffic.

Former C&O H6 'Mallet' type 2-6-6-2 #1309 operates a sold out Frostburg Flyer excursion up the mountain on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in peak fall foliage. Hearing the N&W hooter echo in the mountains, and the articulated thundering in the valleys was quite the sight and sound!
