Running almost half a day off their normal schedule due to both their own equipment issues and a CSX freight with its own issues blocking them on single track, Amtrak Train No. 50, The Cardinal, crosses the Great Miami River Bridge in Hamilton, Ohio as our middle daughter (and budding railfan) Naomi gives a friendly wave to the passengers and crew. While I'm sure everyone on board was probably frustrated, maybe her little wave brightened someone's day.

CSX Indianapolis Subdivision Road Local L425-18 starts their journey west on the Indy Sub out of Hamilton, crossing the Great Miami River with YN2 GE AC4400CW and a pair of EMD SD's for power, seen here in this view from the overpass at D Street.

One of the few SD50-3's remaining on the CSX roster, CSXT 8526, leads local L425-21 southbound under the signals at Glendale on a beautiful and unseasonably warm February afternoon.

Conrail operated this segment of former CL&N trackage from 1976 to 1984, so the 7544 fits right in here.

The North Carolina Transportation Museum's restored Southern Railway GP30 2601 leads one of the museum excursion trains under the preserved Southern signal bridge on the NCTM grounds in Spencer, North Carolina.

Looking like something straight out of a time machine, a pair of Alco switchers in matched paint and trademark Alco smoke exit the South Portal of Burton Tunnel on the former Southern Railway French Lick Branch near Norton, Indiana. This event was part of a photo freight charter operated by the French Lick Scenic Railway and their sister freight operation, the Dubois County Railroad, in December of 2020.
