SP 8380 East arrives into Tucson with a WCHOM train and parks next to an Ex-Southern SD45 3155 on lease to the SP in March 1989.

SP 7828 East departs Tucson under a colorful rainbow with a "rainbow" consist. The consist includes MP 3051, HL (MP) 2057, VMV Paducah 6673 and SP 7485 on train symbol WCHOM in October 1988.

SP 7943 leads two sets of GP40-2 and TEBU (tractive effort booster units) into Tucson with the Nogales local. The consist: SP 7943, SP 1605, SP 7942, SP 7949, SP 1604, and SP 7954. The sets were popular assignments on Tucson locals in 1984 before being transferred up to Oregon.

Rio Grande SD40T-2 5373 is the point unit of the 3 SSW (Cotton Belt) units: 9662 (GP60), 7281 and 7279 (GP40-2) at the Tucson Yard engine facility. Storm clouds are forming to the east as the monsoons continue on this September 1998 afternoon.

A Severe weather alert got me out of bed and raced down to the SP yard in Tucson. A large thunderstorm was approaching from the west. I grabbed my camera and quickly setup the tripod and tripped the shutter and just watched lightning bolts explode from the sky. As the storm got closer and the thunder got much louder, it was time to close the shutter and make a sprint to the truck before torrential rain and hail hit. This is one of my favorite train/lightning photos I've taken over the years. Note the CP 5901 visiting from the north in the engine facility.

UP 5515 west (Ex-CNW 5058) leads BN 5029, UP B4295 (Ex-MP) and NS 9143 is stopped just east of the Tucson yard waiting for a clear signal to continue west.

UP 3148 East which includes UP 4444 (Ex-SP 8512) and 3 GE units powers the Tucson-Houston manifest out of Tucson in May 2000.

BNSF (SF) 8625 East departs Tucson with BNSF 3151 (Ex-Tiger Stripe GP50) and NS 4146. Colorful consist were very common in 2000 on the former SP Sunset Route. This was originally SF 7435.

BNSF 8630 east still in Santa Fe paint leads UP 5986, SP 8167, UP 5061 and SP 8607 waits for a new crew at the Tucson Yard. This was originally the SF 7440.

Colorful rainbow consist were very common on the former SP in Tucson. Take this example of SP 7302 East with NS 6635, CNW 8810 and UP 3722 on a double stack.

UP 4816 (Ex-SP 6831) west leads an impressive 9 unit consist into the Tucson yard in August 1999. Five UP units and four SP units on this HOWCM manifest.

UP 901 (Ex-CNW GP50 5052) leads a colorful consist with SP merger 9351, SSW 9652, SOO 768 and SP 8323. The eastbound double stack is preparing to leave Tucson in 1996.

In 2006, pool power on the former SP in Tucson was wild. Here HLCX 6410 Trona Railway (Ex-SF 5712) prepares to leave east out of Tucson with UP 2905 (Ex-SP snoot).

KCS 6102 (Ex-Rio Grande 5394) sits at the UP Tucson yard. There were very few KCS units in the Tunnel motor paint scheme.

Two SSW "Cotton Belt" SD45's and a SP SD45T-2 lead a westbound manifest train out of Tucson, AZ.
